He quickly corrected the following: Robert Habeck was initially referred to as the German “Chancellor” by the moderator of a debate at Columbia University in New York, but this was quickly corrected by the Vice-Chancellor. When one participant pointed out the mix-up in a question, the Green politician followed up again on Friday — after all, journalists were also present in the room.

“I'm satisfied with the job I'm doing,” stressed Habeck, who would have liked to be the Green Party's candidate for chancellor in the 2021 federal election campaign, and was eventually forced to cede the field to current Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock. Like her, he is considered a recurring candidate for the future Green Party nomination for Chancellor.
