Lancia's return to the rally? / World Radiocommunication Conference

Italian media had already speculated at the end of last year that Lancia could certainly be considered for a return to the rally.

Lancia CEO Luca Napolitano took advantage of the rebirth of the “HF” range, a designation dedicated to the brand’s sports cars, to discuss a potential official return to rallying. This HF badge will return in 2025 with the Ypsilon HF, a 100% electric car that will be equipped with a 240 hp engine and will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.8 seconds.

“The new HF logo will appear on the Lancia Ypsilon HF, and then on high-performance versions of future models of the brand. We thus take a new step in the rebirth of Lancia, emphasizing the more brutal and radical spirit of the brand and its commitment to focusing on high-performance models. Will we return to the crowd? “We're working on it,” says Luca Napolitano.

He continued: “Lancia has reinterpreted the original HF logo, making it more contemporary. In particular, the colors of the HF logo, white, red and black, have been reused, without adding any other graphic elements, but rather simplified for greater purity while respecting Lancia's incomparable DNA. These colors correspond to the official logo of the 1966 Fulvia Coupé, while the slant of the letters is taken from the Lancia Delta logo of the 1990s, an expression of speed and extremeness. The new HF logo creates a perfect balance between past and future. Therefore, we find the little elephant and the abbreviation HF, creating a new balance that expresses the innovation, the distinctive side and the Italian character of Lancia.”

With ten World Manufacturers' Championship titles won between 1974 and 1992 thanks to the Stratos HF, 037 and Delta HF Intégrale, Lancia remains the most successful manufacturer in history, ahead of Citroën (8) and Toyota (7).
