Flights from Düsseldorf: Hahn Air takes delivery of Europe’s first Cessna Citation CJ3 Gen 2 aircraft

Just last week, Textron announced the Cessna Citation CJ3 Gen 2, and Hahn Air has already ordered the plane. The German airline is purchasing another plane.

Germany’s smallest scheduled airline operates just two aircraft. Hahn Air is based on the eight-seat Cessna Citation Latitude and the six-seat Cessna Citation CJ3+. The airline from Dreieich near Frankfurt has only one scheduled flight: the route Düsseldorf – Palma de Mallorca. Otherwise, Hahn Air is in the aircraft leasing business.

Thanks to scheduled flights under its flight number HR, Hahn Air is able to maintain its membership in the International Air Transport Association (IATA). This is important to the company’s actual core business, which is ticket sales. Hahn Air enables airlines to offer flights on Amadeus, Sabre, Travelport and other major Global Distribution Systems (GDS).

Fleet renewal with Cessna

Hahn Air is now renewing its fleet. Cessna did not betray and bought two planes from Textron Aviation again. A new Cessna Citation Latitude aircraft and a copy of the recently announced Cessna Citation CJ3 Gen 2. Hahn Air will thus become the first European customer for the CJ3 Gen 2. The aircraft will be delivered according to the current plan in 2026.

The two new aircraft are intended to replace the Citation Latitude with registration D-CHRG and the CJ3+ with registration D-CHRF. The deal was signed last week at the NBAA-BACE business jet trade show in Las Vegas.

Citation CJ3 Gen2 from 2025

The Cessna Citation CJ3 Gen2 is currently under development and is expected to enter service in 2025, Textron said in announcing the plane last week. The machine offers space for up to ten passengers, and an 11th seat is possible with some variants. The Gen 2 model will have a maximum range of 2,040 nautical miles (3,778 km). The first customer in the world is the private aircraft company Fly Exclusive from Kinston, North Carolina, USA.
