Diner exodus: Many senior managers disappear

No matter how confusing this giant Migros statue may sound, there is one thing you can count on: dinner. The discount affiliate company has worn its clothes in recent years and is considered a success story.

But now personal details put the company on the radar screen. Several senior managers have left the cheap food company in recent weeks and months.

why?

“Nothing special has happened,” a spokeswoman for Diner said upon request. The concerned managers hand over all their duties in an orderly manner to their successors.

The last departure is the head of sales, a manager named Gerd Kaiser Kossmayer. Diener recently announced internally that he had decided to leave Diner in March 2023 and resign from management.

The CEO was part of Diner’s “Stock” for 11 years. Now go from day to day.

Internally, Kaiser-Kosmayr was considered a role model. He rose from a store manager to senior head of sales for the entire group, being responsible for 850 stores and 5,500 frontline employees.

The personal details actually caused a stir without giving much to talk about outside of the Migros branch. Head of real estate and head of logistics left.

The latter, like the sales manager who is now leaving, belongs to management – so 2 out of 7 are leaving the office.

The turbo change in the head of sales’ chair shows how strong the flying weather can be at the upper echelons of the Migros subsidiary.

The outgoing Kaiser-Kosmayr was the fifth in the last 6 years to hold this position. With a 3-year “residency period”, half of this time goes into his account.

Sales also pointed in the right direction under his leadership.

While these rose from 2.7 to 3.3 billion between 2011 and 2019, they rose by roughly the same amount in a much shorter time. In 2021, Diner sold the merchandise for 3.8 billion.
