The transfer has been approved for several months, and now Bayern Munich has officially announced the matter: Omar Richards (23) moves free from British second division FC Reading to Säppnerstraße and signs a contract until 2025.
Richards is a replacement for Alfonso Davis and he is the second summer newcomer after Dayot Upamecano (from RB Leipzig / € 42.5m transfer fee). David Alaba, Jerome Boateng and Javi Martinez, among others, have left Bayern.
“We are happy that Omar has come to Bayern Munich. Omar is a technically good player in the left defense. He finds good solutions in the game, he is very attentive and we trust him to play a good role. To play for our team,” said sports director Hasan Salih Hamidic.
“It is a great honor for me to move to Bayern Munich,” said 23-year-old Richards. “The dream will come true. I am proud to be able to wear the traditional jersey of one of the biggest clubs in the world. I can’t wait to be on the field with Bayern Munich. Mia San Mia!”
