“The Promise”, 2023 at Liverpool (2nd semi-final)

Status: 02/22/2023 11:55 am

Australian broadcaster SBS has nominated Voyager for the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool. This is the first time the band has represented Australia in the competition. His song is called “Promise”.

The progressive metal quintet from Perth – formed in 1999 – combines new romantic pop with 80s sounds. Another trademark of the band is the shoulder keyboard of singer Danny Estrin, who grew up in Buchholz, North Heath. After touring the world several times, the musicians are now fully focused on their mission for Liverpool.

Second attempt at ESC participation

My shoulder is never without a keyboard! Voyager, a band led by singer Danny Estrin, will represent Australia at ESC 2023.

Last year Danny Estrin (vocals, guitar), Simone Dove (guitar), Scott Kay (guitar), Alex Canyon (bass) and Ash Dudkorte (drums) made the Australian opening round of “Australia Decides”. Their song “Dreamer” won the public vote, but they had to make up their own minds in the overall rankings Sheldon Riley failed. For 2023, Australian broadcaster SBS had already decided last November to refer the law directly to Liverpool, rather than making a preliminary decision.

“As a long-time Eurovision fan, this is the pinnacle – Voyager is running the biggest show on Earth! Our song ‘Promise’ was created for the Eurovision Song Contest stage and [….] Eurovision, here we come!!!”
Danny Estrin, lead singer of the band Voyager

40th ESC Anniversary for Australia

The ESC has been broadcasting downhill since 1983 and has participated in the competition as an associate member since 2015.
