Status matches LATAM Pass

Status matches LATAM Pass

The LATAM Pass frequent flyer program is now offering status matching again. This is not interesting in itself, and comes with, among other things, upgrade vouchers for LATAM flights, additional baggage allowance and preferred seats. The condition applies after the match Until March 2025. However, many benefits are not available on the cheapest tariff.

LATAM is also no longer part of an alliance, so most benefits are limited to flights with LATAM. In addition, the cooperation with Delta is particularly interesting, where you can at least get additional baggage allowance and lounge access.

Unfortunately, this matching is again handled by Statusmatch.com. Therefore one falls Treatment cost $98 (~€93) To implement. This “discounted” fee applies to residents of Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal and Spain. Residents of the US and Canada, among other countries, will pay $80 (~76 euros), otherwise $199.

For example, Premier 1K or Platinum with United MileagePlus becomes the highest status Latam Black identical

Wherever no restrictions are mentioned in the list, LATAM theoretically corresponds to the black case. However, obstacles vary depending on the program. For example, for LATAM Black, Flying Blue Platinum status is sufficient, but for Miles&More HON Circle it is required.

By the way, this list is not exhaustive, but your chances are better if your frequent flyer program is listed there.

Status benefits

The match is only worth it from Platinum level and above. We’ve also summarized the top status benefits below. You can find an overview of all the benefits including limitations here on the LATAM website. Benefits with partner airlines (Delta, Iberia and Co) can be found here.

At this point a word about them Upgrade coupons: These sound tempting, but in reality they are very limited: the upgrade can only be requested 48 hours before departure and cannot be guaranteed even then. You will then end up on the upgrade list, which may be confirmed at the gate. Coupons are only worth it if you’re going to book an economy ticket anyway. Then there is at least a chance for a promotion.

It should be noted that booking seats with Delta is always free if you have not booked basic economy. As a frequent LATAM flyer, you’ll also likely have access to preferred seating, but that’s not entirely clear.

This is how it’s done

Status matching is only available via the website latam.statusmatch.com available. As mentioned earlier, a fee of $99 (~€94) has to be paid there. Unfortunately, this is not immediately obvious.

If that doesn’t bother you, the process is incredibly simple. First, if you haven’t already, you need to create an account with LATAM Pass. You can do it for free using this link.

You can then fill out the corresponding status page with your name, LATAM frequent flyer number and email address:

In the next step, information about your current frequent flyer status will be requested.

Conclusion

For anyone who regularly flies LATAM Airlines, the benefits don’t sound unattractive (at least on paper). At the latest, once the upgrade to the long term has been completed, the participation fee of approximately €100 has already been paid. But what is annoying is that almost all benefits are excluded from the cheapest tariffs.

If you don’t have flights planned with LATAM or Delta, you should probably avoid this matchup. Even if you travel on LATAM lines, you should not count on any opportunities to regularly extend your status.
