D.The theater in Newstrelits (McLenberg Lake District) celebrates an opera premiere this Saturday. Theater and Orchestra GmbH spokeswoman said Tuesday that the “Sophie Charlotte” work will be performed for the first time on the big house stage. It came from the McLenberg composer and musician Thorston Harter and goes to Charlotte (1744-1818), then Queen of Great Britain and Ireland.
She grew up to be the Princess of the Grand Duchy of McLenberg-Strelitz in Miro, near Neustrelitz, and at the age of 17 married to British King George III. Wedding. Theater says Sophie Charlotte became one of the most influential women on her husband’s side. In the opera, which lasts about three hours with a break, the lives of women are addressed under the theme “Is our life self-determined or determined by others?” The premiere is sold out.
Until its dissolution in 1918, Grand Duchy had many contacts with important royal houses in Europe. With about 200 staff, Theater and Orchestra GmbH is one of the largest of the four theater and orchestra venues in the Northeast.
