With Limehome, a completely digital company is moving into the former Hotel Basel. The opening is scheduled to take place in the second quarter of 2024.
After Hotel Basel at the end of September 2023 It has closed its doorsthe owner has now found a new tenant for the hotel space in Spallenberg: as officials announced on Monday, a rental agreement has been concluded with Limehome for the next 20 years at Münzgasse 12.
The German company opens one of the first Swiss locations in Spallenberg. The first residential apartment site in Zurich is scheduled to become operational in the spring.
The idea: There are no employees on site, but the hotel operations are completely digital from reservation to check-in. Guests must obtain all the information they need for their stay at the hotel via the so-called “virtual reception”. The goal is to give guests more flexibility and shorter wait times.
Looking for a successor to the pub and restaurant
Limehome currently has more than 5,800 suites in approximately 250 locations in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Hungary, Switzerland, Italy and Greece. With fully-equipped suites, a central location and direct public transport connection, Limehome is aimed at tourists and business travellers, according to owner GATES, Hôteliers & Restaurateurs SA.
According to the owner, it is scheduled to open at the end of the second quarter of 2024. They are also looking for a long-term successor to the Sperber restaurant, which also closed in September. A new use is also planned for the remaining areas on the ground floor of the former Steiger Brasserie.
