As expected, the US Federal Reserve left interest rates unchanged.
The key interest rate remains in the range of 5.25 to 5.5 percent, the Central Bank Council announced.
The key interest rate has previously been raised 11 times in 16 months – most recently by 0.25 percentage points in July.
For the first time since the beginning of 2022, the US Federal Reserve will leave interest rates unchanged at two consecutive meetings. When making decisions, the Federal Reserve (Fed for short) evaluates the risks of inflation and the risk of the economy slowing down too much.

Due to rapid inflation since March last year, the Federal Reserve raised the key interest rate by more than five percent over a year and a half. The latest economic data shows that inflation remains above the 2% target, but is weakening.
However, with US economic growth high and accompanying inflationary pressures, some experts expect further interest rate steps to be made as early as December.
