Starting Thursday, Jonas Deichmann will take on the “biggest sporting challenge” of his life. After running triathlons for 14 months around the world and a duathlon across the USA, the extreme athlete has found another improvement for himself. Deichmann will complete 120 Ironman distances in 120 days on the original Challenge Roth route.

“This will be the world record for the greatest endurance performance ever. I don't know what could be more than that,” says the 37-year-old happily. Starting May 9, he will swim 3.8 km and cycle 180 km He runs 42,195 km daily for 4 months. Total distance: 456 km swimming, 21,600 km cycling, and 5,063 km running.

This is definitely an eating competition too.

The current world record for consecutive daily Ironman races is held by Britain's Sean Conway with 105. “It's going to be tough, but it's totally doable,” Dishman says. He will push himself to his limits more than he ever has before over a very long period of time and will “definitely feel the pain.” He consumes about 10,000 calories a day: “It's definitely an eating competition.”
