The England national team extended their unbeaten run without captain Harry Kane, who retired from FC Bayern Munich. Coach Gareth Southgate’s side won 1-0 (0-0) in a friendly against Australia at Wembley Stadium in London on Friday evening. The Three Lions are now unbeaten in seven games, with six wins and one draw. Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins scored the only goal against Australia (57th minute).

Kane was rested for the game, as was ex-Dortmund player Jude Bellingham, who is having a strong season for Real Madrid. Both were on the bench for 90 minutes.
Italy and England meet on Tuesday
The European vice-champions face Italy on Tuesday in a new edition of the 2021 European Championship final and a crucial qualifier for the 2024 tournament in Germany. England currently lead the group with six points ahead of Italy, Ukraine and North Macedonia. The Azzurri play bottom side Malta on Saturday, while Ukraine face North Macedonia.
