Bang in Saxony: One day before the top match against Bayern Munich, Max Eberl was fired from his position as sporting director at RB Leipzig. The reason given by the club on Friday was a “lack of commitment” by the 50-year-old, who has recently been repeatedly linked with Bayern Munich.

The Saxons accused him of lack of commitment to Leipzig. “The lack of commitment to the club led us to this decision. This happens completely independently of the team change and sporting results.

The cup winner announced that sporting director Reuven Schröder will take over the sporting management of the Bundesliga club.

Gladbach exits due to fatigue

Eberle assumed his position in Leipzig only last December after resigning from Borussia Mönchengladbach in January 2022, due to the fatigue he was suffering from. The 50-year-old has already been considered as a candidate for Bayern Munich several times in the past. According to the club, he had a “long-term contract” at Leipzig.
