Britney Spears’ attorney, Matthew Rosengart, spoke of a “memorial day” after the court hearing. As of today, Spears is a free woman who can now define her life.
Judge Brenda Penny struck down all guardianship requirements. Rosengart repeated previous allegations against the singer’s father. Jamie Spears has enriched himself with his daughter’s million dollar fortune. The decision is now up to Britney whether she wants to take legal action against her father. The fortune of the 39-year-old is estimated to be around $60 million.
At the end of September, a judge had removed Spears’ father from the singer’s guardian role and appointed a replacement. Jamie Spears has been the guardian of his daughter since 2008 after the singer had a mental breakdown due to personal and professional issues.

Spears’ fiancé, Sam Asgari, responded shortly after the judge ruled on Instagram to post “Freedom”. “Make history today. Britney is free! He wrote to a red heart emoji.
Hundreds of fans of the singer gathered in front of the Los Angeles court. The Free Britney movement celebrated the victory with loud cheers.
Many celebrities and fans have expressed their support for the singer under the hashtag #FreeBritney. Singer Dionne Warwick called in a tweet to celebrate Spears’ “liberation.” Cyndi Lauper congratulated on Twitter, and pop star Cher also cheered the victory.
