The British Isles will host the men’s European Championship finals in 2028. Italy and Turkey will host in 2032.

On Tuesday morning in Nyon, UEFA announced the hosts of the European Championship finals in years 5 and 9 respectively. There are no surprises. The 2028 tournament will be co-hosted by England, Northern Ireland, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. In 2032, Italy and Turkey will join the ranks.

For Wales, Northern Ireland, Ireland and Turkey, who have never hosted a World Cup, it will be the first time the major event will be held in their home country.

Uncontested candidates

There was no competition for combined applications, so the award was a formality. Italy and Turkey initially applied separately, but combined their candidacies this summer. UEFA put an end to Russian ambitions early on. The next European Championship will be held in Germany in the summer of 2024.
