The United States and NATO turn Ukraine into a "powder keg"

The United States expects a reaction from Beijing even after Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan

Washington Kirby stressed that the United States does not want a crisis, nor does it engage in rattling of swords. However, the US government is ready to deal with whatever the Chinese government decides. Referring to Pelosi, Kirby said US President Joe Biden respects her decision to visit Taiwan. He reiterated that Pelosi’s visit will not change the one-China policy of the United States.

Despite all the threats from China, Pelosi arrived in Taiwan on Tuesday for a visit. The stay of the US House of Representatives speaker is the highest visit from the United States to the island’s Democratic Republic in a quarter of a century. Beijing considers Taiwan part of the People’s Republic of China, strongly rejects official communications from other countries to Taipei and has strongly warned the United States against Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan.

China also strongly protested Pelosi’s visit immediately after her landing. The Foreign Ministry in Beijing spoke of a “very dangerous game of fire.” China will take “all necessary measures to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity.” Just before Pelosi landed, Chinese fighter jets flew over the sea lane in the Taiwan Strait. In addition, China announced exercises with target practice in six maritime areas around the DPRK.
