Beijing The Chinese calendar is the year of the tiger. This sounds promising at first, but it doesn’t hide the fact that this year, like last, is going to be a tough year.

Real estate crisis, technology crisis, Covid crisis – China has undoubtedly experienced one of the most turbulent years in its recent history. This year the People’s Republic needs one thing above all: “stability”.

That was the most important message after the three-day meeting of the Central Economic Work Conference (CEWC), which was attended by state and party leader Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Keqiang at the beginning of December. The CEWC sets the priorities for the economy in the coming year.

The official report of the meeting stated that “the economy will face many problems and challenges in the coming year, which must be mastered, coordinated and solved in time.”
