Stadler won the most recent bid from ATM On the delivery of new trams to Milan. The new framework agreement covers up to 25 medium capacity trams and up to 25 high capacity trams – both of the type Tramlink – As a five-year extended warranty for each vehicle. In the first version, ATMs required 14 high-capacity trams.

Stadler and Azienda Transporti Milanesi SpA (ATM) have signed another framework agreement for the delivery of up to 50 TRAMLINK trams for the city of Milan. On the first call, ATM ordered 14 high-capacity cars, funded by the Italian PNRR Fund (Piano Nazionale di Ripresa e Resilienza). Delivery of 14 vehicles is expected in June 2026.

The medium-capacity trams are similar to the 2020 trams currently in production at Stadler. It consists of three units measuring approximately 25 meters in length. ATM has already recalled 60 of the 80 vehicles from the framework agreement. The first tram arrived in Milan on December 1, 2022 and is currently being tested on the city’s tram network.

The high-capacity versions of TRAMLINK are based on the above trams, but contain five units and are 35 meters long. They are also two-way vehicles with attractive, open interiors with two designated areas for people in wheelchairs. The low, barrier-free floor area and the four doors on each side allow passengers to board and disembark quickly and easily, thus reducing waiting times. In addition, the innovative carriages ensure that the tram can run smoothly even on tight turns. This will significantly reduce noise pollution for passengers and residents.

Particular attention has been paid to the safety of passengers, drivers and pedestrians. The ergonomically designed driver’s cab increases driver visibility. In addition, TRAMLINK is equipped with an anti-collision system that can intervene as soon as it detects a potential collision with pedestrians, motor vehicles or other obstacles. Cameras that remove blind spots ensure safety in the car. Excellent dynamics combined with a high level of safety and comfort improve the passenger’s travel experience.

“We are very proud that ATM has once again chosen the Stadler tram to improve and expand public transport in Milan”

said Inigo Parra, CEO of Stadler Valencia.

Our vehicles set the standards in terms of performance, reliability, safety, universal accessibility, comfort and state-of-the-art technology. We are convinced that they will also be successful here in Milan.”
