Wendy Holdner reaches the slalom podium in Killington for the first time this winter. Mikaela Shiffrin continues to hoard.

Platform

  • 1. Mikaela Shiffrin (USA) 1:42.02 minutes
  • 2. Petra Vlhova (SVK) +0.33 seconds
  • 3. Wendy Holdener (Switzerland) +1.37

The “little knot at the beginning of the season” has been broken for Wendy Holdener. After Levy’s mediocre performances (12th and 8th), the Schwyz native is back in the list of the best players in the world in Killington. In fourth place in the first half, she overtook German Lina Doer with a strong second round and reached third place.

For Holdener, who celebrated her first World Cup slalom victory last year in Killington, this is the 35th slalom crown of her career.

Mikaela Shiffrin once again created an electric atmosphere in the end zone for Killington. In front of her home crowd, the American claimed her sixth slalom victory in the US state of Vermont – her 90th World Cup victory overall.

The leader was not impressed after the first round with another strong performance from her eternal rival Petra Vlhova, and as she usually does, she increased her intensity in the last few meters and moved away from the Slovakian by a good three-tenths. In Levi, the two slalom queens shared the victories between them.

Other Swiss women are on points

  • 6. Michel Jessen (+2.01)
  • 12. Camille Rast (+2.41)
  • 16. Melanie Millard (+2.48)

Behind Holdener, three athletes secured a very successful Swiss result in the eastern United States. Above all, Michelle Gisin put an exclamation mark with sixth place and already surpassed her best slalom result from last winter (eighth place) in the third race. The woman from Obwalden fought her way into the race twice and showed strong finishes.

Camille Rast and Melanie Millard also scored confidently on points. Both improved in the second round and moved up nine places each.

And this is how it continues

Technicians will be called back in just one week. There are two giant slalom races on the program in Tremblant, Canada, on Saturday and Sunday. Lara Gut-Bahrami won the first two races of the season in this discipline.
