Freeskiers start the Big Air World Cup at Copper Mountain

The Austrian freestyle skiers around Svancer, Müllauer and Bacher have already shown good training performance in the USA and now start the next Big Air World Cup full of anticipation. Competition at Copper Mountain will be held in the familiar Big Air qualifying format, where athletes complete two jumps and the better jump is counted. The circle of favorites is large and the increasing level of freestyle skiing becomes evident again.

The current trend among judges to move away from the classic “spin to win” principle towards creative, unique and technically demanding jumps is to the advantage of Austrian athletes. Head coach Martin Bremstaller was optimistic, saying: “We have been in the USA for 1.5 weeks now, so we have been able to adapt to the conditions well. We decided to fly directly from Beijing to the USA and use the time to prepare well before the Big Air. I am optimistic “Regarding the qualifiers, the kick is very steep, but I am sure our athletes can handle it well. It is important that we can now show our training performance in the competition, because the high level does not allow any mistakes to be made if we want to reach the final.”

Freestyle skiing fans can look forward to seeing the red, white and red athletes show off their skills at Copper Mountain and compete for coveted podium spots. In the previous season, Cuper proved to be a successful area for Salzburg players Lukas Mulauer and Matej Svancer. Lukas Mulauer managed to qualify into the final of the top 10 and just missed out on the podium with fourth place. The third Big Air competition of the 2023/24 World Cup season promises amazing action and thrilling competitions against the picturesque backdrop of the Copper Mountain.
