In less than three weeks, Remo Forer will be singing for Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest. Until then, he’ll be advertising – in Amsterdam and this weekend on Happy Day.

The Eurovision Song Contest is a marathon, not just a sprint. Crucial voting points are awarded in the final shows, but business starts chasing votes much earlier – including in major pre-ESC parties.

After an event in Madrid, Remo Forer, who represents Switzerland this year, was in Amsterdam and performed his song “Watergun” in front of around 6,000 fans. “It was one of my greatest performances to date,” the 21-year-old tells SRF 3. This moment is captured in the video above.

This is how world stars should feel

The only downside: “Get on stage, sing a song, you just got ready and then you have to come back again.” Before he did, the Toggenburg native again sang the “Watergun” a cappella choir – and 6,000 people sang along with it.

“It was a very stark feeling,” he says. “I always wondered what that felt like for the actors of James Arthur and Lewis Capaldi — now I know.”

First the laundry, then “happy day.”

This experience pushes Remo to actually compete in mid-May, but he also feels the pressure: “The semi-finals are tough and the expectations are high, but I’m also very happy.” In a week’s time, he and the Swiss ESC delegation will head to Liverpool, with rehearsals for the semi-finals on May 9. And more fan selfies, media dates, and party appearances.

But before that, it is necessary to go to the laundry room: “I have a huge mountain of dirty laundry because I haven’t been able to do any laundry for the past few weeks.” And on Saturday, April 22nd, there is also an appearance on SRF 1’s “Happy Day”.
