Team USA brings NBA and WNBA experience to the 3X3 Basketball Tournament in Santiago 2023

Led by Jimmer Fredette and Azzurra Stevens, the USA brings strong teams to the men’s and women’s 3×3 basketball tournaments at the Pan American Games.

The United States is poised to defend its sweep of the gold medal in the 3×3 basketball championships at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games later this month when the Pan American Games return in Santiago, Chile.

Team USA today announced the players who will compete for gold medals again at Santiago 2023 as the sport makes its second appearance in the continent’s most important multi-sport event.

The US men’s team is led by Jimmer Fredette, who has six years of NBA experience. He most recently helped lead Team USA to a silver medal at the 2023 FIBA ​​3×3 World Cup alongside teammates Kanyon Barry, Kareem Maddox and Dylan Travis. These same teammates will also join Fredette in Santiago for the Pan American Games.

In addition to winning silver at the 2023 World Cup, this men’s team also captured gold at the 2022 FIBA ​​Pan American Championships and are favorites to repeat as Pan American Games champions.

On the women’s side, all four players bring WNBA experience to the court, led by 2021 WNBA champion Azura Stevens as well as Sierra Burdick, Blake Dietrick and Lexi Hall. The team will also look to defend its Lima 2019 title which was won by a team led by WNBA sensation Sabrina Ionescu.

Three of the four players on the women’s team have 3×3 experience, with Burdick leading the charge as a two-time world champion in 2014 and 2023. The USA 3×3 team is also expected to repeat as Pan Am Games champions but will face tough competition on their way to the podium.

The men’s and women’s 3×3 basketball tournaments will be held October 21-24 at Estadio Español in Las Condes, Chile.
