At the beginning of February, a statement by former NBA star Dirk Nowitzki made headlines. “My feet are really bad. There are days when I don’t move very well at all.”, the 43-year-old German explained in a podcast. In an interview with “Bild”, Nowitzki again provided detailed information about his state of health. He understands that “the foot will never be the same as it was 20 years ago”. But he has to learn how to deal with it.
Although he doesn’t feel pain every day, Nowitzki reveals that he has found a way to tackle the problem. He has now lost eight kilos. “Fortunately, because that’s good for the foot.” Now is the time to maintain the weight. But he knows it won’t be that easy. “Of course there is a slight lack of motivation. For the past 20 years, when I’ve gone out and everyone asked for dessert and wine, I said ‘no’. It’s tough right now.”
To maintain his fitness, Nowitzki currently plays tennis from time to time. He also rides his bike a lot and does various strength exercises. When asked if another operation was available to him, the legend replied succinctly: “No, no operation is planned.” (sword)
