The Board of Delegates of the Migros Cooperative has made a surprising personnel decision: Marian Mayer will not be confirmed to her position as President of the Assembly of Delegates. Instead, the delegates decided to postpone the election of the Presidency to a later date.
what are the reasons? When asked, Migros said: “There seems to be a desire among the delegates for a fresh start and to choose candidates for this position,” says the spokesperson. Migros himself was surprised not to be re-elected, especially since there was only one vote at the delegates' meeting stating their disapproval of Mayer-Müller's administration – and there was no opposing candidacy. It seems unclear what dissatisfaction is. Mayer was elected President of the House of Delegates in 2020. She was previously a member of the cooperative board of the Migros Aare and Migros Zurich cooperatives for 16 years.
Low management
However, Chairman Ursula Nolde was re-elected. New delegates Cédric Mouret and Anne-France Bonny were elected to the administration, which was reduced from 23 to 13 members. Mouret is the owner and president of Elca Group, specializing in IT solutions, and Boni is the marketing director of Migros Vaud.
Migros announced on Saturday that the reason for reducing the size of the administration was measures aimed at increasing efficiency. The Council of Delegates decided in November last year to reduce the size of the administration, effective July 1, 2024. Five of the resigned members have reached the maximum term of 12 years.
The MGB management now consists of a president, five members from the regional cooperatives, five external members and two employee representatives.
The Council of Delegates is the highest body in Migros. Delegates usually meet twice a year to vote on important proposals.
