Metro Awakening is a prequel to the Metro series. The game was announced at the PlayStation Direct event last night. What's special about the title? It's a VR game!
The Metro prequel is coming to VR
Vertigo Games and Deep Silver Metro have announced the new title, which will be released later this year on PlayStation VR2, Meta Quest 2 and 3, and PC VR.
“Metro Awakening is a story-driven first-person adventure designed exclusively for VR that combines atmospheric exploration, stealth, and combat in the most immersive Metro experience yet,” Deep Silver said in the description of the promotional video.
“The year is 2028. Survivors of nuclear Armageddon cling to existence in the underground passages beneath Moscow. Don your gas mask and face the debilitating radiation and deadly threats of the subway in this terrifying story of supernatural origin.”
The author of the title is none other than the constructor of the metro Dmitry Glukhovsky. For him, the background story told in the introduction is of particular interest. “It feels like we're going back to the basics and roots of the series – now at the level that VR technology can provide…,” he says.
