What a way to end the season for bobsleigh pilot Laura Nolte of Ona. At the final World Cup of the season in Lake Placid, the 25-year-old finished third in Lake Placid while also winning the overall World Cup.

Along with her co-driver Claudia Schussler, Nolte finished a long winter in third place behind winner Kim Kalecki and the surprisingly strong Adele Nicol of Great Britain.

With her next podium finish, Nolte also secured victory in the overall World Cup championship, thus successfully defending her title from the previous year. Kalecki finished second here ahead of Lisa Bukiewicz.

Laura Nolte was already challenged on the very difficult course in the monopole on Friday. Here she landed in fourth place in the monopole race after two laps behind winner Brenna Walker of Australia, Elana Myers Taylor of the USA, and Cynthia Appiah of Canada.

Vice title in monobob

Due to Walker's strong finish, World Champion Winterberg was forced to cede second place in the overall World Cup classification to the Australian. Nolte's teammate Bukiewicz secured the win.

“Lisa absolutely deserves the title because she had a very strong season,” said Laura Nolte happily with her colleague. “I have only reached the top ranks in Altenburg and I can be more than satisfied with third place.”

There is still a lot to be done before next year's World Cup, which will also be held in Lake Placid. “We have to see what else we can do with the racers and with the format in general,” says the model athlete, knowing what will be important next season. “The North Americans had a really good handle on it.”

First of all, Germany's best bobsled athlete is on vacation. But not right away, because in addition to the training course with the German Army, Nolte's employer, there are other dates coming up. “I will travel first to Frankfurt, then to my family and grandparents, and then at some point for vacation.”

After a long and very successful season again with the World Championship title in the individual race, runner-up title in the World Championships in the individual race, second place in the all-around World Cup in the monobob, and a successful defense of the title in the two-man pop race. As well as victories in the European Championships and the German Championships, which were more than acceptable.
