Hakan Yakin and his rocky path to training diploma
Hakan Yakin is not allowed to take over as Schaffhausen’s coach at the present time. The certificate is missing – the Turkish language course is not available yet. The next chapter in the coaching story is about the 45-year-old.
2017 – Musaed Murad
Murat Yakin is FC Schaffhausen coach: Hakan Yakin sits next to his brother on the bench as an assistant thanks to a temporary permit, since the former Nati star failed in the theoretical part of the final exams for the A-diploma.
2019 – First time as CEO
Because Murat Yakin relegated to the stands after his fourth yellow card as coach, Brother Hakan experienced a baptism of fire as a professional coach for one match against Aarau. Most recently, the former national team playmaker was in charge of FC St.Gallen’s U21s first division team in 2016.
2019 – Diploma in second attempt
Hakan Yakin can now support Brother Murat on the sidelines without a temporary permit. He earned a diploma on the second attempt.
Fall 2021 – Assistant Coach Andermatt
Murat will be the national coach and Hakan will be his successor as head coach in FCS. But Hakan only has an A diploma but will need a Uefa Pro license, which is required for the head coach from the Challenge League onwards. So FCS officially introduces Martin Andermatt as its new head coach – Hakan has become assistant coach at eye level.

July 2022 – Registration in Turkey
Andermatt’s contract will not be extended. FCS promoted Hakan Yakin to the position of coach. You need at least to take a course to get a Uefa Pro license. In Switzerland, the next course will not be held until December – but the deadline is only September 12. So Yakin scores for the course in Turkey. He may become a head coach.
August 2022 – Problem due to Turkish delay
The deadline has expired. But the Turks were late – the planned course was not yet completed. So Yakin cannot remain head coach at the moment. FCS is bringing in Bigi Meier as the new interim coach. (mdp)
