“Looking at not only the Taliban’s statements, but (US) President Biden’s public statements, I think that is not possible,” Wallace told Sky News on Tuesday. But “it’s definitely worth it for all of us to try.”
The Taliban issue a final warning
The Taliban are threatening “consequences” if the United States does not withdraw its forces from Kabul airport from Afghanistan by August 31 as planned. The European Union and Great Britain consider it impossible to rescue all those in need of protection from Afghanistan by the end of August due to the chaotic situation at the airport – and without the US military in Kabul, other Western states must stop their evacuation. U.S. President Joe Biden has said he will withdraw U.S. troops by August 31, but has opened up the possibility of an extension.
The G7 nations may meet on Tuesday for a virtual crisis meeting to discuss the situation in Afghanistan. Great Britain should be recommended to extend the evacuations at the meeting.
