Upscaling technologies like AMD's FSR or Nvidia's DLSS can dramatically increase frame rates, but they're not built into many games. The modding scene often helps here – and that's exactly the case again: ever since AMD released the source code for FSR 3 publicly, the community has been adding the technology to more and more games. Comparison videos on YouTube show that the performance advantages can be radical.
Significantly higher frame rates
YouTube channel MxBenchmarkPC It shows, for example, the performance in The Witcher 3: at 1440p and Ultra+ and with ray tracing activated, the Geforce RTX 3080 achieves around 45 fps in a single scene, while DLSS 3.5 integration in Quality mode achieves just over 60 fps . Combined with FSR 3 frame generation, there's a lot more that's possible: in our first test scene, the system achieves over 100 fps. And in the second test scene – when riding across the landscape – the increase in performance is also similar. Framing increases the frame rate dramatically.
The YouTube channel also came to a similar conclusion com. lowfpsclip, who tested FSR 3 in Starfield using a Geforce RTX 3070. At 1440p, creating an FSR 3 frame after DLSS can nearly double the frame rate there. Anyone with a weak graphics card, high resolution, or high refresh rate monitor can definitely benefit from the right tweaks.

However, the subsequent implementation of FSR by the community also brings problems in both cases. In Witcher 3, for example, there is a slight flickering in places when zooming in. And in Starfield you can see, among other things, from the slightly jerky player shadow that the frame creation is not yet perfectly integrated. The corresponding community mods are still very recent. So maybe some fine tuning could be done here and the image quality could be improved further.
