Prince Daniel of Sweden often stands smiling alongside his wife, Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden. The former fitness entrepreneur has a special role in the Swedish royal family: he is the first Swedish commoner to marry into the main line of the Bernadotte family in recent times. So when he married in 2010, he earned a place in the Swedish royal family.

But now the Scandinavian king’s collar has popped and he has spoken out. Rare. the reason? Divorce rumours.

Breakup rumors were ‘bad’ and ‘false’

On the occasion of his 50th birthday on September 15, Prince Daniel was available for a detailed interview with Swedish journalist Karina Bergveldt for the TV program “Prins Daniel 50 år” (eng. “50 years of Prince Daniel”).

For the first time, Prince Daniel comments on the rumors of separation that have been circulating in the media for some time. The subject clearly irritates the king: “It was a bad and false rumor, and we knew it had serious consequences,” he complains.

“Many friends from all over Sweden and from abroad have reached out to us, and the whole thing has reached a level that we cannot accept,” Daniel continues.

At the beginning of 2022, a rumor circulated that the Crown Prince couple wanted to divorce. The Swedish royal family was forced to publicly respond and then deny the rumours.

And Prince Daniel continued with a good move: “I don’t think any sane person believes this rumor any more.”

In this conversation he also talks about his backstory before he had his transplant in 2009. Daniel had suffered from kidney disease since birth.
