Real Madrid easily beat Cadiz 3-0. Due to Barcelona's 4:2 loss to Girona, the Madridistas became early champions.
Real Madrid won the Spanish championship title early. The Madridistas beat Cadiz 3-0 thanks to goals from Brahim Diaz, Jody Bellingham and Joselu in the second half. Coach Carlo Ancelotti had rested some stars before the important second leg in the Champions League against Bayern Munich next Wednesday.
As Barcelona lost the match against Girona 2:4 after conceding 3 goals within 10 minutes (from 2:1 to 2:4), Real Madrid, the historic title holder, celebrated their 36th championship title with 4 rounds to go. Real Madrid replaces arch-enemy Barcelona, which won the championship title last year.
Barcelona is only third
Barcelona also had to pass Girona in the table and fell to third place. The Catalans were 2-1 ahead at the end of the first half, and that meant Real Madrid's championship ceremony was postponed. But after the break, Porto turned the match in favor of the host team with two goals from Miguel Gutierrez between the 65th and 75th minutes.
CL's dream for Girona comes true
Thanks to the victory, another dream of the surprise team came true: Girona will play in the Champions League next season for the first time in the club's history. The team from north-eastern Spain was only promoted to the top flight in 2022 after 3 years in the second tier.
