Oldenburg – Just over a week after losing the qualifiers to the Hamburg Towers (81:93), EWE Baskets Oldenburg has announced its first new signing for next season in the German Basketball League. On Friday, the club presented American Kyle Rudd (24) – and at the same time announced the first departure.
“His strength lies in his versatility, and he can be used in several positions,” explained Oldenburg sporting director Srjan Klaric. The 2.01m Rudd, who comes from Liberty University in Virginia, can play at both small and wide wing positions. For him, Baskets is his first professional stop after studying at university. The Oldenburgers did not provide any information about the length of Rode's contract.
Meanwhile, winger Dean Williams will leave Oldenburg after just one year for an as-yet-unknown destination. The 27-year-old Englishman has been sidelined for several months in the 2023/24 season due to injury and has been unable to build on his previous performances at Baskets Bonn. In 2023, he won the Champions League with Bonn and became the German runner-up with them.
