The Munich District Court has found former Audi chief Rupert Stadler guilty of fraud by omission.
The Munich Regional Court sentenced Rupert Stadler, the former CEO of Audi, to a year and nine months in prison, suspended. The court found him guilty of fraud. The two co-defendants – former head of engine development and later Porsche board member Wolfgang Hatz and engineer B – were given suspended sentences for fraud.

These are the first criminal verdicts in Germany in the diesel scandal that was revealed in 2015. Hutz and Eng. They are interested in tinkering with diesel engines. In this way, they maintain the emission values on the test platform.
Suspended sentences are associated with high fines. The attorney general had already approved suspended sentences for Stadler and B. As part of an agreement in the process, however, in Hatz’s case he demanded a sentence of imprisonment without probation. Judgments are not final yet.
