The BMX World Championships will be held in Rock Hill on Friday and Saturday. The Swiss trio wants to cause a sensation.

National coach David Graf's team includes one woman and two World Cup podium contenders. Zoé Claessens won 2 out of 6 World Cup races this season. The 23-year-old from Vaud, along with Olympic champion Bethany Shriver (England) and Alice Willoughby (USA), forms the strongest rivals to World Cup winner Saya Sakakibara (AUS).

Among the men, 11 athletes reached the podium at least once in the six World Cup races. Cedric Petit has been one of the most consistent players among the best. The 24-year-old from Torgau reached the Top 8 final four times, finishing second twice and third and fourth places once each. Simon Marquardt, the 2022 world champion, has reached the final three times (places 3rd, 4th and 8th).

The front-runner is Olympic champion Nick Kyman (NED), who won both events at the World Cup Finals in Tulsa at the end of April. The World Cup in Rock Hill is also of great importance for the Olympic qualifiers which run until the beginning of June. No other event awards so many points.
