15 other people have been charged by the Braunschweig Prosecutor’s Office over the VW diesel case. This was stated by Attorney General Klaus Zehi to the DPA news agency. The defendants are accused of aiding and abetting tax fraud, aiding and abetting false testimony and criminal advertisements.
The Braunschweig District Court must decide whether to accept the indictment. A court spokesman confirmed that the files had been received. In the case of former CEO Martin Winterkorn and four other directors, the court has already passed the indictment on charges of commercial fraud and mass fraud, but the process was recently postponed to September due to Corona.
In two other NOx cases in the emissions scandal, the prosecutor charged 14 Volkswagen employees. However, no decision has yet been taken on the opening of the main procedures. The “Dieselgate” scandal was revealed in September 2015 as a result of investigations by US environmental authorities and scientists. (SDA)
