  • New York Attorney General Alvin Bragg sued Republican Rep. Jim Jordan.

  • He accused the politician of committing an “unprecedented, blatant and unconstitutional attack” on the impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump.

After former US President Donald Trump was indicted, Manhattan Attorney General Alvin Bragg sued a Republican congressman. Congressman Jim Jordan was accused by Bragg of an “unprecedented, crude and unconstitutional assault” on the impeachment trial of the 76-year-old Trump, in the lawsuit filed Tuesday.

Jordan chairs the Judicial Committee in the House of Representatives. A spat with Bragg over the Trump investigation recently led to Jordan issuing a subpoena for the former attorney general. With the lawsuit, the Prague Democrat is trying to prevent his testimony from being given. In addition, Bragg’s recall should be prevented.

Trump has been charged with 34 counts of falsifying business documents in a silent financial scandal. Bragg last week accused Trump of falsifying business records to cover up other crimes, including violating campaign finance laws. The 34 charges relate to the alleged forgery of various documents.

Trump, 76, pleaded not guilty to the indictment. He described the investigation against him as a politically motivated “witch hunt”.
