Coop abandons “Construction + Hobby” and chooses Jumbo
Coop’s DIY stores will be called “Jumbo” in the future. The retail giant is giving up its own brand after taking over a competitor. The branch network for both brands will remain in place.
With the acquisition of DIY chain Jumbo, Coop is ditching its own Bau + Hobby brand. The retailer announced Friday that the two brands will merge and trade under the “Jumbo” name in the future.
Coop will continue to operate 84 outlets in Bau + Hobby in addition to all 40 Jumbo locations and will continue to employ sales staff. Wherever jobs in management are lost in the long term, Coop will offer employees, if possible, an alternative job offer. According to the announcement, it will take about a year to implement the procedures.
