French director Julia Ducornu won the Palme d’Or, becoming the second woman in the history of the Cannes Film Festival.

Jury chairman Spike Lee accidentally announced the winner Julia Ducornu at the beginning of the awards ceremony: the American director’s announcement came as a surprise to the organizers. In fact, he should have announced the Best Actor award.
