French director Julia Ducornu won the Palme d’Or, becoming the second woman in the history of the Cannes Film Festival.
Jury chairman Spike Lee accidentally announced the winner Julia Ducornu at the beginning of the awards ceremony: the American director’s announcement came as a surprise to the organizers. In fact, he should have announced the Best Actor award.
Julia Docorno, who won the horror film “Titan”, is 28 years after Jane Campion received only the Palme d’Or in the festival’s history, the second female director in the festival’s history.
The best actor award went to Caleb Landry Jones for his performance in “Nitram”, in which he plays a young man on the verge of committing one of the worst murders in Australian history.
Norwegian actress Rinat Rainsvi won the Best Actress award for her role in Joachim Trier’s The Worst Person in the World, where she plays a young woman searching for herself.
The Best Director award went to Leos Carax for the musical, “The Great.”Annette» who opened the festival.
