Young winemaker

First place three times

First place three times. In September 2022, the gourmet magazine “Selection” conducted the tasting for the eighth time, giving Germany’s best young winemakers the opportunity to increase their profile and present themselves to a larger audience. Wörrstadt in Rhenish Hesse was the venue for tastings, which garnered a wide range of media coverage and demonstrated the impressive quality of wines from up-and-coming young winemakers. About 50 wine producers from all major German wine-growing regions participated and entered 500 wines in the race. The jury of fifty people (journalists, sommeliers, wine merchants) came from seven countries and were judged by blind tastings according to a 100-point system. Small winegrowers from the wine villages of Auggen and Laufen in Markgräflerland managed to reach the coveted first place three times in the category concerned with four wines. The Cuvée Blanc, Cuvée Noir, and rose wines are all dry and represent the “young winegrowers” style of Auggener Schäf and Laufener Altenberg. The dynamic group of twenty young winemakers from Auggen and Laufen has made a name for itself since its founding in 2016, and today extends far beyond the borders of Baden. They see themselves as a talent brewer that strives for wines that stand out from the mainstream with a light-hearted approach. Due to strong demand, two of the three award-winning wines are already sold out, but you can get curious when the new 2022 vintage will be bottled, because the team is always good for a surprise. The Winzerkeller Auggener Schäf, who ages the wines in their cellars, is delighted with the young team and congratulates them on their success.
