Intel offers a special graphics driver for “palaces”

Like Nvidia before it, Intel has now released its own graphics driver for Intel Arc and Iris Xe, optimized for medieval city building and the real-time tactical strategy game Manor Lords. The manufacturer uses a rather distinctive machine translation on its German support site. Not an exceptional case, as a look at Intel's driver history shows.

Palaces and Dragon's Doctrine 2

According to the Release notes From the latest Intel graphics driver 31.0.101.5445 for Intel Arc A-series graphics cards, Intel Iris Xe graphics, and Intel Core Ultra processors with Intel Arc graphics, the graphics driver is optimized for the “Mansion” game. Hence, Intel translates Manor Lords developed by Slavic Magic, which can be translated as “manorship” or “angel”. It is not uncommon in the latest driver versions, as the examples show.

  • Manor Lords = Manor Houses
  • Conqueror's Blade = Conqueror's Blade
  • Rise of the Tomb Raider = Rise of the Tomb Raider
  • Dragon's Doctrine 2 = Dragon's Doctrine 2
  • Children of the forest = children of the forest
  • It takes two = It takes two
  • The last era = the last era

Intel's German language support site was apparently translated from English to German through a simple automated routine. Not a big deal in itself, but the manufacturer's creations are always good for a laugh or two.

AMD still has to take care of the shortcomings

While Nvidia and Intel have introduced their own graphics driver optimized for Manor Lords, AMD has yet to follow suit with Adrenalin Edition and take care of the “Manor Lords”. However, experience shows that a suitably adapted graphics driver can be expected soon. On April 26, Manor Lords begins early access at 3 p.m.
