Seven players were new to the national camp this week. But in the friendly match against Latvia, the focus was on the player who was there from the start. Thanks to double top scorer Tyler Mooy, Switzerland were rewarded for a huge performance boost. The Lakers forward scored in nearly identical ways:
- 22 minutes: Roman Lovell fires Outnumbered Moy. Scored the 1-1 equalizer at one time.
- 54 minutes: Goal 4:3 is a copy of the first goal. Introducing Loeffel, Moy locks a man more firmly on the ice.
Having taken the lead for the first time, Switzerland never let a miss in Riga. With 36 seconds left, Sven Sentineleer made it all clear with a goal into an empty net. Coach Patrick Fisher’s team celebrated its third straight win.
Scoring five minutes
On a guest appearance in Latvia, Switzerland did not initially present themselves in their World Cup form. Indiscipline and character errors were emblematic of erratic performance at times. The best example of this was the scene in the twenty-fifth minute.
Goalkeeper Sandro Ishliman indifferently passed the puck behind his own goal, for which the Latvians immediately punished and scored the goal 2-1. With an unnecessary penalty, he gave veteran Andres Ampol a push outside shortly after conceding. Former SCP striker Kaspars Daugavins increased the lead to 3: 1 (27).
The timeout has no effect
Coach Fisher had seen enough after that and took his time out. The measure did not fail to have an effect. Calvin Thorcoff turned Switzerland back after just 20 seconds of conceding. After a quick counterattack, the striker of Lugano scored to make the score 2: 3. And in the 47th minute, Tobias Gesser equalized the match with the first goal in the 30th international match. The model came from Match Winner Moi. After that, the guests survived a double deficit of 114 seconds.

The second friendly match against Latvia is scheduled to take place on Saturday afternoon (3:50 pm Real Madrid time). Next week, Switzerland will play friendlies against the Czech Republic, Finland and Sweden as part of the European Hockey Tour. The first World Cup match will be held on May 13 against Slovenia.
