- For the first time since his accession to the throne, Britain’s King Charles III. Trooping the Color Birthday Parade Honours.
- Around 1,400 soldiers, 200 horses and 400 cavalrymen marched through central London.
- Thousands of people gathered along the route to witness this spectacle.
At 10 a.m. local time, King Charles and members of the royal family joined the procession on horseback and in carriages. Charles rode ahead of his son William and his sister Anne in a red uniform and bearskin hat.
The route led from Buckingham Palace through The Mall to the Horse Guards Parade Ground, where Charles reviewed his troops.
The day ended with the Royal Air Force flying over Buckingham Palace while the Royal Family waved to the crowd from the balcony.
Summer birthday party
“Trooping the Color” means “Flag Parade” and the British King’s Birthday Celebration. It always takes place in June, regardless of his actual birthday, because the weather in England is usually very good. Charles’ actual birthday is November 14.
