Dental care is essential when it comes to healthy teeth and a bright smile. Most people know this from childhood. However, many people find it difficult to take care of their teeth regularly and get annoyed with this constant routine.

Accordingly, the teeth and gums are often inadequately cleaned. One of the main reasons is that we don’t immediately feel what’s going on when we neglect dental care. The consequences are often felt later – either with a sudden toothache or bad news in the dentist’s chair. Then again when the bill needs to be paid.

Some people also have trouble with the taste of toothpaste, can’t stand the feeling of a plastic brush in their mouth, or simply don’t feel like it. Of course, there are things more exciting than brushing your teeth for a few minutes two or three times a day. However, if you want to avoid tooth decay, gingivitis, tooth discoloration and bad breath, you must take the time, despite all the resistance.

1. The right equipment

It is best to get your dentist’s advice on which toothbrushes are best for your needs. Then you can also switch between: a manual toothbrush made of wood in the morning and an electric version in the evening. You can also add variety to your brushing routine with your choice of toothpaste: try a new brand, and vary the flavours. Of course, it is also worth listening to the advice of a specialist here. But it’s definitely better to use toothpaste that tastes like iced tea or watermelon every now and then than to skip brushing altogether.

2. Hourglass for timing

Brushing should be done for at least two minutes, and preferably three minutes. But it is only when we are mentally elsewhere that we lose all sense of time. So why not set a timer? Or, much nicer: put a stylish hourglass in the bathroom. Not only does it look pretty, but it’s also motivating!

The beautiful hourglass not only looks elegant, but also helps to brush your teeth long enough.

3. It’s time for a little exercise

Although, of course, this is not the case, brushing your teeth seems like a waste of time to some. Are you one of them and you are always so busy, why not take the time to do a little exercise? Squat for your thighs and glutes, raise and lower your heels for strong feet and calves, or rotate your hips to loosen your lower spine. But be careful: don’t forget to clean up!

4. Brushing teeth outdoors

Who said you always have to brush your teeth in the shower? Perhaps you can make brushing your teeth at the porch, garden, or open window a ritual. You can let your gaze wander into the distance, breathe in the fresh air and turn brushing your teeth into a little wellness moment.

Why do you always brush your teeth in the bathroom? A garden, balcony or open window is also suitable.

5. Make a playlist

Create a brushing playlist with the two to three minute songs you really like. This lifts the mood and may even invite you to a little dance. The only thing that is better to postpone is singing until later.
