City Band “Very British”. Friedberg Under Andreas Thön’s autumn concert. Moderators Sandra Durschmidt and Tobias Temple already suspected that British music would resonate with us. After all, our compatriots eagerly follow the royal celebrations every year New Year’s Eve “Dinner for One”. And they were right, as the Konradin High School auditorium was almost full.
Those responsible succeeded in selecting a balanced selection of individual musical pieces. Although Eric Coates’ “The Dam Busters” and Jacob de Haan’s “Ross Roy” are less well-known film titles, “Pomp and Circumstances” needs no explanation. This tune is always played when the royal family has something to celebrate. Everyone knows the “Elizabeth Serenade” composed by Ronald Pinke in honor of the Queen.
