Using a smartphone on the toilet doesn’t have to be uncomfortable for you — though it’s certainly healthy to an extent. But 66.7 percent of Swiss do it anyway, according to a survey by NordVPN. open.
This means that Switzerland is again No. 1 among German-speaking countries. In Germany, only 54.8 percent of those surveyed would take their mobile phones with them to the toilet, while in Austria the figure is 58.8 percent. However, we are not at the top of the global rankings, and here comes Hong Kong at 87.9 percent with smartphone use in the toilet.
Work at work
And what do the Swiss do in the toilet next to their shop? In fact, business matters too, because 37.7 percent check work emails or Office apps like Slack and Teams on the toilet. However, social media platforms are used the most, at 46.6 percent. 41.8 percent read or listen to the news and 34.8 percent play games.
With such high levels of smartphone use in the bathroom, it’s almost inevitable that some annoying mishaps will happen as well. 15.3 per cent of Swiss have already flushed their smartphone in the toilet – the survey does not differentiate between before and after the visit.
