'PERMANENTLY CLOSED': The Esprit store on Freie Strasse has closed due to bankruptcy
Fashion chain Esprit closes 22 branches in Switzerland – this also affects the three-storey store on Freie Strasse 23.
You can no longer find the Esprit store on Google. If you look closely at the map, you will see that the branch on Freie Strasse 23 is “permanently closed”. This is also confirmed by on-site inspection. On Tuesday, customers were already standing in front of the closed door. A notice on an A4 sheet indicates this. In English it is written: “We are temporarily closed” – Temporarily closed.
But Basel is not the only branch. The fashion group closes its branches in Switzerland and declares bankruptcy. Blake was the first to report this, citing a statement issued by the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and readers. Just before midday on Tuesday, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange posted a notice that Esprit Switzerland Retail had filed for bankruptcy in Switzerland. Esprit currently operates 46 branches in Switzerland, approximately half of which belong to Esprit Switzerland Retail.
According to the notice at the entrance to Freie Strasse, the branch in the St. Jakob-Park was not affected by the closures.
