The Munich District Court has opened bankruptcy proceedings over the 74-year-old’s assets, insolvency administrator Rolf Pullmann announced Thursday. A Schuhbeck spokesperson asked for “an understanding if we cannot comment on them at this time.”

The cause of the action is insolvency, as stated in the official bankruptcy notice posted on Wednesday. According to Pullman, the procedure was opened after filing for bankruptcy in December.

Creditors who are waiting for their money must contact the insolvency administrator by August 9. According to the announcement, the creditors’ meeting was scheduled for September 13. At first she had it The newspaper “Bild” reported on the initiation of bankruptcy proceedings.

Tax debts remain open and millions of private debts remain

Pohlmann pulls out all the stops: From Schuhbeck’s bank balance to his securities and vehicles, everything turns into cash. Pullman explains that this could be “any liquid money out there” and doubles down: “and virtually everything else out there.” It doesn’t matter if it’s Fonsis’ furniture or his cars, everything gets sold and goes into bankruptcy estate.

This money would be distributed among the thirty creditors in order to pay off Schuhbeck’s debts by the millions – at least somewhat.

One of the most famous chefs in Germany

Schuhbeck is one of Germany’s most famous chefs and restaurateurs. He’s already cooked for The Beatles and Charlie Chaplin, former Chancellor Angela Merkel and Queen Elizabeth II – and time after time for Bayern Munich.

His name has been a trademark for years. He built a network of businesses with three restaurants, a catering service, an ice cream parlor, and spice shops. Now only the spice shops remain. Schuhbeck recently gave a cooking class again at his Munich shop.
