Samsung’s OneUI 6: Android 14 update is here

The wait is finally over. Samsung has released the OneUI 6 update based on Android 14. The first devices to benefit from the update are from the S23 series. Other current smartphones are likely to follow soon.

The new software release brings with it a number of innovations. In addition to the automatic improvements through Android 14 base, Samsung has also made some independent improvements. One of them is the new standard font “Samsung One UI Sans”. In addition, the home screen layout can now be better modified.

Also noteworthy are the revised design of the quick settings and Samsung keyboard as well as new features in the Gallery app and weather widget. The camera application has also been updated, for example for creating filters or scanning documents.

However, one open question remains: How will the update affect battery life? Users are reporting significant improvements on Pixel devices running Android 14 – and it remains to be seen if this also applies to Samsung devices.

The update can be downloaded as usual via the “Software Update” area in the system settings. It is currently supported for the S23 series, i.e. Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra.

Other models are also expected to receive the update soon. Beta versions of the program are already available for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5. The older S22 series and the mid-range smartphones A34 and A54 are also scheduled to have their turn before the end of the year.

Important to know: The current update still contains the October security patch. The November security updates are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
