Co-winners Wales have become the first team to reach the quarter-finals of the Rugby World Cup in France.
The British convincingly beat two-time champions Australia 40:6 (16:6) on Sunday evening (September 24, 2023). The out-of-form Australians, who have already lost against Fiji last week, will no longer be able to make it to the top eight on their own.
Wales are top of Group C with 14 points after three wins from three games and will not be out of the top two places for the quarter-finals. Australia are level on six points with Fiji, who have played a game less.
In today’s second game, Scotland got their first win in their second game. The team won 45:17 (24:10) against foreigners Tonga. This leaves top favorites Ireland in a strong Group B and a quarter-final spot with defending champions South Africa.x.
