For the first time since his comeback, former Supersport World Champion Randy Kruminacher was able to push, as in his 2019 title year. The fact that he finished eighth in Misano on Friday does not reflect his true speed.
It would have been second in the combined schedule after the two World Cup Supersport free training sessions in Misano. But because Randy Kruminacher was too far into the penultimate corner on the exit and touched the replay green, his fastest lap – only 10th place – was turned down.
“Apart from the two millimeters on the green, today was a very good day,” Cromey told SPEEDWEEK.com behind the EAB-Yamaha box. “The team and I are working hard to understand what it takes to find the last five tenths of a second. We made the right move on Friday. We all got a little better and in the end I moved the bike around as if I had me saving it somewhere in my head. The thrust definitely came back, and I put on a new rear tire relatively early because I wanted to get ready for the race. I drove my time with a full tank. On lap 14, I was on a very fast lap, but then I came out 2mm away.”
“I now know I can still do it,” Zurich Oberlander confirmed. “In second practice in particular, I gained a lot of confidence and moved the bike as it should. That positive day gives me some space to breathe. After Estoril, we realized we needed to do certain things differently on the motorcycle, and I’m talking about balance and engine brakes.”
